Strengthening the structures of the Water Boards
Through the Program to Strengthen Citizen Participation for Peace and Development (FOPACDE), support and assistance is provided to water boards to strengthen their roles in favor of the sustainability of aqueducts managed at the community level.
One of these roles is to ensure water quality, which is why the water boards of 5 communities in 3 municipalities of Choluteca (Agua Agria, Porvenir in El Corpus, Tamarindo in Apacilagua and San Agustín and San Jerónimo in Namasigüe) have built a hypochlorinator and have carried out complete bacteriological analysis tests to verify the quality of the water in each aqueduct. In addition, the San Jerónimo water board built 132 linear meters of fencing to protect 32 solar panels used to pump water from the well to the tank. Thus contributing to the achievement of the goals established in SDGs #1, #3, #6, #16 and #17.
